U.S. regulatory system claimed to be a jokePosted by RJ and Makay on Sep 24, 2010 |
Last Tuesday
in the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers, JP Morgan chief Jamie Dimon presented a chart as evidence that the U.S. regulatory system had become a joke, according to recent article at the New York Observer.
In his article on why bankers dislike Obama, Max Abelson reported that the chart was presented at a recent Barclays Global Financial Services Conference. When Dimon clicked to page 18 of his presentation—a terrible mass of regulatory spaghetti popped up on the screen with dotted and straight lines crisscrossing from top to bottom.
Dimon claimed to have added the chart for fun and told his audience, “This is our regulatory system."
Laughter broke out and Dimon was interrupted by applause—a response the Observer article says illustrates that bankers are offended by the U.S. Regulatory structure.
