America’s wealthiest families worry that their wealth could make them targets for high-stakes liability lawsuits in the current environment of high unemployment and weak economic growth, according to an ACE Private Risk Services survey released earlier this week. Despite the concerns, many of the well-to-do are ill prepared for such a lawsuit and do not recognize the aspects of their lifestyle that could lead to legal action against them.

new study this month which shows that employment discrimination class action lawsuits are extremely rare. Although employment discrimination lawsuits are one of the largest categories of civil cases filed in federal court, most all do so as individual plaintiffs. According to the study more than 40 percent of plaintiffs either have their cases dismissed or lose at summary judgment. The other half are likely to settle very early in the process.
