Smartphone owners now represent the majority of the mobile phone market in the U.S., according to a new Nielson report. The nation’s smartphone users totaled 50.4% of the mobile phone subscriber market in March of this year, up from just under 50% in February and 37% in March 2011. Research firm Canalys issued a recent report that said smartphone shipments in 2011 outnumbered shipments of computers and tablets combined.
