In completing the first of three funding cycles for 2011, Ameriprise Financial awarded more than $1.1 million to nonprofit organizations. 77 grants were issued under the company’s three funding platforms: 1) Meeting basic needs; 2) Supporting community vitality; and 3) Volunteer-driven causes.

The Nationwide Foundation has donated $1million to Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. The funds will be shared by Feeding America’s national office and 21 member community food banks. A portion of the funds will go to the National Produce Program to distribute fresh fruit and vegetables to people facing hunger.
