The Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement is looking to hire an accountant. The OWS Accounting Working Group has interviewed four candidates to oversee its finances, members of the group said Tuesday. The accounting committee met last night to discuss its options. The hire, a possible departure from the movement’s decentralized anti-authoritarian style, still has to get approval from the OWS General Assembly.
Internal Revenue Service
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) launched a new program last week that will enable employers to resolve worker classification issues and become compliant under the tax law. Employers will now be able to make a minimal payment to cover past payroll tax obligations rather than waiting for an IRS audit. The move is part of a “Fresh Start” initiative at the IRS to assist taxpayers and businesses in addressing their tax responsibilities.
