A new poll by Maritz Research, a firm that specializes in measuring employee satisfaction, has found that U.S. employees still harbor deep distrust of company managements.  Despite a slight improvement in business conditions coming out of the worst recession in recent times, the American workforce remains less engaged with their employers than they were a year ago.

Private sector added jobs in MarchMarch was a solid month for the jobs market, with private U.S. employers adding 201,000 jobs, reports ADP Employer Services. The ADP report, created jointly with Macroeconomic Advisers LLC, is in line with what economists expect to hear Friday from the government in its more comprehensive public and private sector employment report.

"While a touch softer than February's, this is a strong report that indicates continued momentum in the pace of labor market recovery," says Barclays Capital, noting it still expects the government's report on Friday to show 175,000 new jobs in March. In a new Reuters poll of economists, median forecasts call for increases in nonfarm and private payrolls of 190,000 and 200,000, respectively.

Losses in NYC Financial Sector Shrink to 10-Year LowAlthough it lost jobs, New York City's broad financial activities sector has posted its best hiring numbers in nearly a decade, reports the New York State Department of Labor (DOL).

Indeed, revised figures show employment in the sector fell by just 1,600 in January 2011, the best performance for that month since 2002. That's important because Wall Street galvanizes the New York City economy and spurs hiring in unrelated fields. The revised data did not include hiring numbers for the city's financial activities sector in January.
