82% of investors trust their financial advisor and only a small percentage of investors trust Washington policymakers, according to a John Hancock Financial Services survey. A poll of 1,001 investors revealed that only 30% of survey recipients trust Federal Reserve head Ben Bernanke, and only 28% trust president Obama on economic matters.
Occupy Wall Street
The Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement is looking to hire an accountant. The OWS Accounting Working Group has interviewed four candidates to oversee its finances, members of the group said Tuesday. The accounting committee met last night to discuss its options. The hire, a possible departure from the movement’s decentralized anti-authoritarian style, still has to get approval from the OWS General Assembly.
New York City police removed Occupy Wall Street protesters early yesterday from Zuccotti Park in Lower Manhattan. The demonstrators had been camping there for the past eight weeks. Supreme Court Judge Michael Stallman, in siding with the city and the park’s owner, Brookfield Office Properties Inc., lifted a temporary restraining order, a ruling that prohibits campers from using gear for overnight stays in the park.
