BNY Mellon vice chairman Karen Peetz is the most powerful woman in banking, according to American Banker Magazine, which just released its list of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking. Peetz manages about 17,000 employees worldwide and is the first female vice chairman in Mellon’s history. She rose to number one from a third place ranking last year.
Bank of America shook up its top management on Tuesday as the firm continues to struggle with a low stock price and growing legal issues. The bank announced the departure of wealth management division head Sallie Krawcheck and consumer banking leader Joseph Price.
Young people may be losing hope that investing can make them wealthy. Many individuals with more than $250,000 in investable assets are worried that they may not be able to save enough to sustain themselves for the rest of their lives, according to a new Merrill Lynch quarterly survey. Survey recipients cited economic weakness, roller coaster markets, rising health care costs and college costs as the main reasons behind their worries.
