Charitable contributions still feeling the effects of the Great Recession

Even whenCharitable contributions still feeling the Great Recession ended in June 2009, average charitable giving continued to drop. In 2009, giving dropped to $54,016, down 34.9% from giving in 2007, according to the 2010 Study of High Net Worth Philanthropy from Bank of America Merrill Lynch and the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, released in November this year. The study sampled 801 households in May and June of 2010.
