It's official: Happiness begins at 50Posted by Darin Manis on Jun 02, 2010 |
As 50 becomes the next milestone for some of us
(although for some of us more quickly than others) you get a bitter sweet birthday indeed. Jim Pavia is an Editor at InvestmentNews and wrote a good-humored article titled: Science proves it -- happiness begins at 50. According to a new research study published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, once people turn 50 they "become happier, less stressed and more optimistic."
So if you're worried about hitting that half-a-century mark knowing that in all likelihood you have finally more days behind you than ahead of you, just don't give it another thought. Your body has a natural defense mechanism it seems. Once you turn 50 the bright side of things seems to become more visible. If you're over 50 and didn't realize this, you now have permission from science to cross the "anxiety barrier."
