The nation’s economy added 227,000 non-farm payroll jobs in February as the unemployment rate held steady at 8.3%, the U.S. Labor Department reported today. It marked the third consecutive month of job gains above 200,000. Job numbers for January and December were also better than previously reported, revised upward to 284,000 and 223,000 respectively.

The International Bribe Payers Index 2011, a joint publication of Reuters and Transparency International, shows that “bribing public officials when doing business abroad is a regular occurrence.” The index is based on a survey of more than 3000 business executives from developed and developing countries.
The U.S. economy added more jobs than expected last month as non-farm payrolls added 103,000 jobs in September, the Labor Department said today. Payroll data for the previous two months were revised upwards by a total of 99,000, indicating that 57,000 jobs were added in August and 127,000 in July. Despite the revisions and the September gain, the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 9.1% for the third month in a row.
