Health care costs for employers are expected to top $10,000 a year, per employee, in 2012, according to a new study by human resources consultant Aon Hewitt. Premiums are expected to rise by 7%, slightly below the 7.5% increase between 2010 and 2011. The study projects that employers will spend $10,475 in premiums per employee in 2012, $1,364 more than health insurance outlays two years ago.

Many Americans have experienced sharply rising health insurance costs this year as compared to recent years, and the pace of the increase is outstripping worker wage growth, according to a new study by the Kaiser Family Foundation in conjunction with the Health Research & Educational Trust. The study found that the average annual premium for family coverage of health insurance reached $15,073 in 2011, an increase of 9% from 2010.
