TechnologyThe Financial Services Institute’s (FSI) OneVoice conference recently hosted a panel on the top 10 technology trends that currently impact independent broker-dealers, and the trends that will likely affect them in the future.  Spenser Segal, CEO of ActiFi, moderated for panelists Suresh Kumar of Pershing and Ron DePoalo of Fidelity, in a discussion on the impact of technology.  Their commentary is included in the following list of trends.

Within the outsourcing industry, the Outsourcing still a booming business within the financial services industryinformation technology sector and healthcare might be at the forefront, but financial services isn’t lacking in activity. Even though advisory firm TPI reported it observed a drop in the outsourcing of financial services during the 1st and 2nd quarter, there are still plenty of instances that contrast with the TPI index reports.

For instance, on the 15th of September, outsourcing provider Broadridge says it’s expanding its services to meet the demand of financial institutions and provide more flexibility beyond securities processing. New services are to include securities clearance and settlement, corporate actions, tax reporting, mutual funds, accounts payable, treasury, risk, and compliance.
